Things to Include for a Killer About Page
July 2, 2022

Writing about yourself is never an easy task I’m referring to that About page every website has… Or at least for most of us – a cheeky grin. This is why so many tend to struggle to create an About Me page for your blog. What information should the information be relevant to share with your audience and future brands? In this post, I share 3 Things to Include for a Killer About Page. To ensure that non of the juicy stuff is left out.

You want people to be interested in reading and following your blog, this is how you build trust with your readers… The end game is to build a community where people trust your opinion.

Some key elements to include on your about page are:

  1. Be transparent- let your readers know who you are, what you stand for, and what they can expect from reading your blog.
  2. Be vulnerable- show your readers that you’re human and that you’re not perfect. This will help them relate to you and feel like they can trust you.
  3. Be engaging- make sure your about me page is interesting and engaging to read. Use humour, tell stories, and be yourself!

An About page is the perfect opportunity to talk about how your readers can benefit from your blog.  You can also use this page to let your readers know more about you, your blogging process, and your blogging goals. Here are three things to include on your about me page:

 Be a Bit Personal

Emphasis on “a bit” the last thing you want to do is share your entire life story online. Share key points you think your audience might want to know about you.

  • Share what lead to you starting your blog.
  • Share your interests, like a few fun facts that people could relate to.
  • Share where you’re located.
  • Share a photo of you! This one is something you don’t want to forget, people want to see you. It’s a way to humanize your blog and adds a face to your writing.

How you Can Help Your Audience

Let’s face it people want to know what’s in it for them. You might think the About page is all about you, but it’s a chance to talk to your audience and what you can offer them.

  •   Expand on the problems you can solve.
  • Understand their struggles and how you can help them.

Don’t forget a call to action!

I can’t stress enough how important this one is! Share your social media handles, your email address and any place where your audience can get into contact with you! Add a contact form so that if anyone does have any questions. They can easily respond straight from your website.

The key thing to think about is to talk in a natural language and don’t be scared to show off your personality! The last thing you want is your readers to get bored and click out without having to read all about what you can offer them.

That’s a wrap! I hope you found these tips useful. So go on and create your killer About Page that will attract your ideal audience. Just remember to keep it concise, personal and approachable, and you’ll be well on your way to making a great first impression.
